What is a Blacklist?
A blacklist is a list created to help block or stop spammers from performing spammer task like posting to forums, blogs, and sending emails. According to WikiPedia a blacklist is "generally used in a pejorative context, as it implies that someone has been prevented from having legitimate access to something due to the whims or judgments of another."
How did I get blacklisted?
- You've spammed someone, and they've submitted you manually to a list.
- Your behavior has met the criteria of some spam software, and you have been blacklisted.
- You are using shared hosting and share the same ip with a known spammer
How do I get off a blacklist?
Well you need to prove to the list manager that you are not a spammer. The best way to do this is to contact the list owner from another email address, or call the company and explain your situation. If you are indeed not a spammer, maybe you can shed some light on why spam was coming from your ip or domain. Do a little research first. Update all scripts on your website.
